Members of the Kremlin government have threatened to take action against the BBC after the broadcaster announced that they would be using the song Poison by Alice Cooper as the theme tune for their TV coverage of the World Cup in Russia.
The corporation have since defended their use of the tune for ‘artistic reasons.’
A spokesperson said, ‘The song evokes imagery of a grand event, and they don’t come much more grand than this.’
‘We usually just go for a bit of cultural appropriation, so we are proud to be doing something fresh.’
’ITV will probably just have those two insurance meerkats recreating the training montage from Rocky IV.’
