There have been calls for further investigations after it emerged that a London couple on benefits is currently planning a £30m wedding.
A spokesperson for HMRC has already promised to look into the allegations.
A source told Southend News Network, ‘An anonymous tip-off was received that a wedding will be taking place between two adults who are in receipt of taxpayer funds, and we have an obligation to look into this further.’
‘Even taking back payments of Universal Credit into consideration, it is highly unlikely that a legitimate claimant would be able to spend £300,000 on a dress.’
‘They could have saved a fortune on crockery by just using the stockpile of ‘Remembering Princess Diana’ Royal Doulton plates that are stashed in a Daily Express warehouse somewhere just outside the M25.’
