People from Southend and beyond were celebrating today with the news that the SOUTHEND AIRSHOW has been confirmed for the Bank Holiday weekend in May 2018.

On Sunday 29th and Monday 30th May 2018, visitors to Southend On Sea will be able to see some of the world’s most famous air in a series of indoor and outdoor displays.

For the main event, local resident Matthew Ohtoo has collected air from every Southend Red Arrows display in the 1990’s and put it in plastic boxes before storing it in his attic – these containers will be set up on the cliffs and it has been predicted that thousands of people will turn up to take a look.

There will also be a significant commercial aspect to both days, and the council are already taking applications from traders who wish to sell Southend air and related products on the seafront.

Alexander Kazhin is in charge of the 2018 Southend Airshow Consortium Committee Partnership Alliance, and he literally couldn’t wait to tell a Southend News Network reporter about the benefits that this will bring to the town.

He said, ‘We asked 50,000 Southend residents what they would like to see returned to the Southend annual calendar of events, and a staggering 97% of them said that they were desperate to see an air show in the town – therefore we simply couldn’t ignore this wish!’

‘Both of the local train lines have confirmed that capacity will be doubled for both days, and they will return to London full of Southend air. What a souvenir to take home!’

He continued, ‘Local government officials opposed the idea at first as the event will bring large numbers of visitors to the town, pumping millions into the local economy.’

‘They were also concerned about putting Southend on the map and giving local people an enormous sense of pride, but an agreement has been reached where they can take all of the praise if it is a roaring success.’

There have also been accusations that the organisers are looking to price local people out of the festival.

Southend News Network can EXCLUSIVELY reveal that plans are in place to create VIP Zones for £125 per day, and this ticket price will include breathing access to premium quality air, a souvenir brochure, a branded duffle bag, and a presentation kit containing six cans of sparkling Southend Air.
