The MP for Rochford and Southend East James Duddridge has been rushed to hospital this afternoon with a suspected ruptured anus after an attempt at the so-called ‘Tory Power Stance’ in Southend Town Centre went horribly wrong.

Shortly after 12pm on Wednesday, it was confirmed that all Conservative campaigning for the local election had been put on hold while Mr Duddridge receives an emergency episiotomy at Southend University Hospital.

He is said to be in ‘high spirits’ in spite of his unfortunate accident, and a source told Southend News Network that he is even chatting with Accident and Emergency staff.

Our source added, ‘He told us that he was thankful that Southend’s A&E department hadn’t been merged with Chelmsford and Basildon yet.’

‘Apparently a long ride up the A130 is the last thing you want with a ruptured anus.’
