All services on the C2C line are currently suspended after a train was stolen from Basildon station in the early hours of Wednesday morning.
At around 5am, hooded thieves were witnessed moving the train onto a truck that was waiting on the street below.
Police have currently taped off the scene for forensic testing.
A spokesperson for C2C said, ‘We’re still trying to figure out exactly what happened, but we are already certain that Network Rail are responsible.’
’We are urging the public to remain vigilant, and if anyone should offer you a complete set of twelve 357 Electrostar train carriages please contact the police on 101.’
