People all over South Woodham Ferrers have been buzzing with excitement today after it was announced that local singer Annie Humphrey has been asked to perform at the inauguration of Donald Trump as US president on January 20th.
Miss Humphrey, 29, has been performing for a number of years with the group Frog On A Rocket, and she has also collaborated with us on a number of projects that you can hear below.
The President-elect’s spokesperson Dan Grater said: ‘Donald has had hundreds of people get in touch with samples of her music – he particularly enjoyed Dartford Tolls as it resonates perfectly with the British themes of Brexit and sticking it to the established government.’
‘She will now get to follow in the footsteps of Beyoncé and other musical greats right outside The White House with the eyes of the world upon her.’
‘Donald loves the idea of just picking an up and coming social media talent and putting them into a high-profile performance slot. Unlike Rebecca Ferguson, Annie hasn’t set any demands or conditions – she just appreciates the opportunity in the land of opportunity!’
The Chief Reporter of Southend News Network added: ‘I am delighted for Annie. Her Southend News Network performances in the last three months have been viewed more than 1.5 million times online, so it was only a matter of time before the big guys came calling.’
‘Luckily I have her tied into a ten-song deal!’
