Police in London have confirmed that they are ‘stepping up’ search efforts to find a gas meter reader who went missing while undertaking a site visit in Hammersmith.

According to sources in the area, the utility company representative was conducting an investigation into ‘metering irregularities’ shortly before his disappearance.

Once neighbour said, ‘I did notice that there was a lot of screaming in the corridor when he arrived, along with a bizarre smell of cold tea.’

‘Hopefully his logbook will offer some clues about what actually happened.’

Londoner David Hérisson was travelling past the property on a bus at the time of the incident, and he told Southend News Network that he heard a strange noise.

He said, ‘I noticed a loud thud on the roof of the bus, but I just put it down to someone taking part in a spot of bus surfing.’

Enquiries continue.
