A fundraising campaign to buy a new house for Katie Hopkins after she was forced to sell her existing home due to legal fees has reached £24,000 including gift aid.
The appeal picked up pace after it was revealed at the weekend that the right-wing commentator had been forced to move out of her existing home because of the sheer cost of her libel case against the food blogger Jack Monroe.
The appeal’s creator hopes that it will eventually reach £500,000 – a sum that will allow Hopkins to ‘live in the country pad that she deserves.’
The appeal states:
As you may have heard by now, Katie Olivia Hopkins has been forced to file for a form of insolvency due to a lengthy court case for libel involving the food blogger Jack Monroe. The hefty legal bill has forced her to sell her home
Nobody wants to see someone of Katie’s stature and good standing in financial dire straights, so we are trying to raise £500,000 to get her a new country residence.
Please give generously.
Supporters are being encouraged to include Gift Aid at no further cost to themselves if they are a UK taxpayer.
This generosity from donors has already allowed an impression £4,000 or more to be added to the fundraising total.
