A police raid on a restaurant earlier today has uncovered 18 Iraqis working illegally.
According to witnesses, the raid took place shortly after 8am at Al-Lakart Kebabs on Camel Road in Central Baghdad.
A number of arrests were made at the scene.
Police spokesperson Mustafa Hussein said: ‘Three men were operating a doner meat spinner without the necessary food hygiene certificates being in place, and eight men were caught separating multipacks of Coca Cola before selling them individually.’
‘A further two men were arrested for not covering the nutritional information with a sticker in Arabic.’
‘The remaining men were arrested for jousting with shish skewers – under Iraqi law this offence can incur a ten-year prison sentence.’
